July 4th is my favorite holiday. Today we started the day off with a fantastic buffet breakfast at Rayfields Pharmacy in downtown Cape Charles. Then the parade started and Jackson got to ride on the Marines float. They usually throw out candy, but this year it was beads...like the kind you get at Mardi Gras (a little strange, but whatever). He had a BLAST. After the parade, we came back to Grandma's house for lunch and then headed to the beach. We stayed for about 3 hours and the weather was perfect. We were exhausted and came back home for naps. Then it was time for dinner and a bike ride around the resort. Jackson's grandma and her husband, Joe, live in Bay Creek, a resort community in Cape Charles, VA on the Chesapeake Bay. We love it here! Jackson has been here for the last 2 weeks, having a ball. Jackson was home for the weekend and then we came back down on Monday and he'll stay here for a while longer. I miss him terribly, but it's better for him to be here having fun instead of at home where there is so much tension. We ended the night with fireworks and sparklers...it was a great day!
What I missed today, though, was hanging out with lots of friends. I love these kinds of holidays when tons of people get together for BBQs and laughter. Next year I hope it will be that way for us.
We have to make a decision soon about our house in Castle Rock. We really need to sell it, but also can't afford to pay the mortgage in addition to our rent in Harrisonburg. So we need renters. The ideal situation would be to find someone who will rent the house and keep it in showing condition while it is on the market. A family from Georgia has inquired about a month to month lease so I am going to talk to them tomorrow about our ideal situation. The sale of our house would relieve much of our financial burden and alleviate a lot of my stress. Please pray we make wise decisions and that God provides just the right situation for us.
Well, that's it for now. I hope you all had a fantastic holiday today and made some great memories.
