About Erin

Hi! So glad you're here. If you are a single mom, I hope you'll be back and maybe even introduce yourself one of these days. We gotta stick together!
First, I need to let you know that I am not super-mom. I struggle with feeling inadequate, ill-equipped, and like a big fat failure. But that's what makes me real. There is nothing you could say to me about your single mom life that would shock me into judgment. This is hard, right? So I want this to be a place where all kinds of stories can be told. Some will be yucky but I believe many will be stories of joy found in the hard times.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, here are a few facts about me:
I became a single mom in 2007 after being married for 6.5 years.
I have one boy, Jackson, who was four when I got divorced. I lost one boy, Griffin, when I was 5 months pregnant while I was going through separation and divorce.
My only hope is in the freedom offered to me by Jesus Christ. He is my Everything.
I don't live near Jackson's Dad, so I'm single parenting 100% of the time.
I have a natural bent toward seeing the good in all situations, but since I gave the reins of my life over to Christ, I have become a broker of hope. Because He is GOOD and we belong to Him.
Things that strike my fancy are Bluegrass music, starry nights, reading a good book in the warm sunshine, gathering people in my home for food and talk, looking at the world from an alternative angle, dark chocolate with sea salt, a bold red wine, hearing people's stories and giving them a safe place to be real, laughing with my kid, going for long walks under big trees, riding roller coasters, exploring small towns, old houses, flea markets, living out my faith in God, becoming more and more human, and being a mom.
For 7 years, I sold residential real estate and was blessed to help over 100 people find their perfect home. I loved it. When I went through my divorce, money was scarce and I needed some funds fast. Know what I mean? So I started an eco-friendly house cleaning company and grew it over the next 3.5 years. Dear friends of mine purchased it from me when Jackson and I moved from Denver to Austin in 2011 and I started another one with my sister, Ashleigh. We sold it to a lovely couple in August of 2013 and now I am in a position to pursue the dreams that God laid on my heart many years ago.
I'm in adventure mode. The rest of the story has yet to be written and I'm excited (and a little scared) to follow God into the unknown, take a lot of risks, put my heart on the line, and see what unfolds.
Thanks for coming here. Looking forward to seeing you around!

Erin, keep the faith. I and other men have screwed it up but we love the Lord dearly as well. Trust and verify, and never let something sit well with you when your gut check says something is wrong. May the Lord bless you and keep you. Stay behnd Him and let him be your defense, and provider. He is after all the true lover of your soul. Warmest regards, Conejo Loco

Erin,

Great story. However, I have to ask, do you view God and His word as something that should FIRST serve you and your life, or the other way around? I ask because I find too many people that don't actually understand scripture and the nature of God's intent, which is too ultimately serve Himself and not humanity. Instead, lots of "soft" Christians look at God's word as just being therapeutic and go to church in order to be served. God is love, but God is also truth and His truth is not always in line with what mankind wants or thinks it needs. If you haven't been probably baptized you should be, and you will receive more knowledge thru the the gift of the Holy Spirit. I refer you to Romans 6 and Acts 2. Peace to you and your family
